What type of bag do you normally carry? Me, I love carrying crossbody bags as they are perfect for the days when I want to go hands-free. But not just any crossbody bag will do. It has to be sleek and stylish as well as practical with storage for all my basic necessities: a mobile, cash & cards, a small wallet, etc.

Fabric Recommendations: For the exterior: medium weight fabrics, for example, quilting weight cotton, decorator fabrics, denim, canvas, vinyl, cork, leather, etc., are recommended. For the interior: quilting weight cotton, denim, cotton canvas, waterproof canvas, etc., are recommended.
Exterior: The exterior of the Infinity crossbody bag has a unique front infinity accent, a gusset with subtle piping and a classy strap connector. The infinity accent adds beautiful detailing to the front of the bag that enhances the look of the bag. However, if you would like to use fabric with a large print or a panel, then you can skip the infinity accent.
The gusset on the Infinity crossbody bag can be made with piping or without the piping. The piping in the gusset adds an extra fancy detail without being hard to execute.
The pattern has been designed considering sewists who are new to working with piping. The piping that is recommended is a 1.8mm wide piping, which is not too thick and is easy to handle while sewing. The piping is sewn on the straight edge of the gusset and hence, there are no tricky curves to maneuver. Furthermore, the gusset pattern piece has been designed to be slightly larger than the actual finished size gusset to account for errors while sewing the piping. So, do not be afraid to try the piping.
One of my testers, Katie, swapped out the piping for a fringe. It looks stunningly beautiful and gives the Infinity bag a totally different boho vibe!
The strap connectors on the Infinity crossbody are uniquely shaped and are attached using rivets to the gusset of the bag. You can choose to sew them down, if your machine can handle the thickness. Alternatively, you can use metal strap connectors as well.
Fashion the Infinity crossbody bag with a chain-link strap or a buckle strap depending on the look you desire. The buckle strap is adjustable and can either be directly attached to the strap connectors or made detachable by using swivel clasps.
The chain strap has a small fabric/vinyl strap piece attached to the metal bag chain to prevent discomfort at the shoulder while carrying the bag. You can use metal bag chain that is available by the yard which can be cut to any length. However, if only fixed length bag chains are available, use nose pliers to pry open a chain link at the desired length and remove excess chain. The excess chain bits can be used for small craft projects, for example, attaching tassels, adding charms to zipper pulls, etc. The chain strap can also be made removable by attaching swivel clasps at the ends of the metal bag chain or on the strap connector.
