Violette Field Threads (VFT) one of my favorite pattern designers recently launched the Give Hope Campaign to help provide education, nutrition and healthcare for little girls in Guatemala. For more info on how to help please visit http://www.casa-guatemala.org/
As part of this campaign VFT launched a new pattern “The Hope Dress & Tunic” and offered it for free with a small donation of $2.50 going towards the campaign. Anybody wanting to help could send a dress or two to the VFT office to be sent to Guatemala. VFT received an overwhelming response towards this noble cause and they have met and exceeded their goals!!
This campaign is now closed but the pattern is still available for purchase at $2.50. The hope dress is a swing style reversible dress with rabbit ear tie top straps. It can be sewn as a dress or a tunic with or without bottom ruffles and also comes with a special finishing option for that extra special look.
I had the pleasure of donating towards this cause and sewing up this pretty dress for my niece. I tried out the simplest version of this dress and didn’t bother adding the ruffles as I was working with a very flowy rayon which was quite a fuss to cut. I ended up wasting a lot of fabric trying to cut the pattern pieces!! However it was a pretty easy sew and turned out beautifully! And it is reversible too!!
